I need to make sure I don't fight against God's revealed plans in His Word, but strive to live my life according to God's plans.

When the young men stood true to God there were those ready to condemn them. So it is often with us, when we stand ready to do what is right there are those who are ready to condemn us. They stood for right and so can I, with the help of Jesus.

Chapter 2:26-49 Day 4

28. But there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets, and He has made known to King Nebuchadnezzar what will be in the latter days.

44. And in the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms , and it shall stand forever.

47. The king answered Daniel and said, "Truly your God is the God of gods, the Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, since you could reveal this secret."

Nebuchadnezzar took Daniel at his word and gave God the credit for the revealing of the dream and its interpretation. Had Daniel not given God the credit then perhaps Nebuchadnezzar would have not given God the credit either. God is working to have Nebuchadnezzar become a believer in Him. There is a lot of things about Nebuchadnezzar that indicate God has quite the task to have him become the man he wants and needs to be, While I might not have the earthly power that Nebuchadnezzar had, I do have the sin and the estrangement from God that he had and God is working in me to have me become the man I want and need to be.

Perhaps one reason God revealed to Nebuchadnezzar what was to come was to help him see that his pride at his accomplishment of forming a great empire would not endure the test of time. It is best that we remember that whatever it is we seem to accomplish is God's accomplishment and He should be praised and have the glory.

Chapter 2:1-25 Day 4

WOW! Texts
20. Daniel answered and said: "Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, For wisdom and might are His.
21. And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise And knowledge to those who have understanding.
22. He reveals deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, And light dwells with Him.
23. I thank You and praise You, O God of my fathers; You have given me wisdom and might, And have now made known to me what we asked of You, For You have made known to us the king's demand."

God is in control of the world. I should trust in him and remember that even when evil rulers seem to be destroying all that is good, that in His time God will do what is needed to work for my and everyone else's salvation. There is much I don't understand, but I can trust in God because He loves me.

Chapter 1 - Day 4

8. But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portions of the king's delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

17. As for these four young men, God gave them knowledge and skill in all literature and wisdom; and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.

It was no doubt an honor for the captives from Judah to be chosen to serve the king. Despite their misgivings at serving the one who had torn them from their homes and families, the prospects of those chosen to serve Nebuchadnezzar was likely much better than that of their fellow captives. And to be fed from the king's table surely was better than what the unchosen would have to eat to survive. Yet Daniel was willing to stand for what he believed God would have him do. It wasn't an easy stand for him and his friends, as the king was noted to be somewhat severe if something went against his wishes. But stand for their beliefs Daniel and his companions did. The result was greater honor for them, and greater honor for their God. God could only give Daniel and his friends the blessings he had for them when they stood strong for the principals he had taught them already.
