39. another kingdom - Babylon would not last forever, another kingdom would rise up inferior to Babylon
39. third kingdom of bronze - third kingdom of bronze would rule over the earth

40. fourth kingdom - fourth kingdom would be strong as iron
40. iron - fourth kingdom like and breaks in peices and shatters everything

Perhaps one reason God revealed to Nebuchadnezzar what was to come was to help him see that his pride at his accomplishment of forming a great empire would not endure the test of time. It is best that we remember that whatever it is we seem to accomplish is God's accomplishment and He should be praised and have the glory.
